Starting a club is a rewarding experience and brings students together with similar interests. Once you have a club, you have the ability to fundraise, put on activities, host events, and more. For a list of current clubs, click here.
Requirements
1. Find a club advisor (a staff member willing to attend your meetings and advise your club)
2. Read through the New Club Criteria Information
The ASB Budget Committee will meet and vote to approve or reject your club application and contact you with the results. Two avenues can be taken: An official club (paid advisor with ASB account) or Student Interest Group (unpaid advisor without ASB account). Another possible action would be: further information is needed to make a decision. Clubs could be denied because of possible conflict of an existing club already with the same mission.
Additional Suggestions
Before you start a club, think about the following considerations:
- How hard is it to do what I want to do? Are there challenges involved? Will we need special equipment or funding?
- What will the purpose of the club be? A club without a well-defined purpose will falter.
- Is there interest for my type of club at Shorewood?
- Will my club benefit the school and its students?
Fundraising
Fundraising is simple, but requires motivation and knowledge. There are many sources of funding throughout the Shorewood and Shoreline community, but it is up to you take initiative to go and pursue them. Shorewood Boosters and Shorewood PTSA are two important sources of funding and support for Shorewood activities and a invaluable community resources. Talk to your advisor about possible sources of funding, and contact Mrs. Parker in the business office for further information. You may also contact the ASB Treasurer or ASB Leadership Team here.
Good luck!
